Project to write and develop a new eLearning module to redress deficiencies noted in the assembly of Mechanical Clamp Connectors
The Project
With over a decade of experience working with the Lloydminster Upgrader, Cenovus turned to Praxis to write and develop a new eLearning module to train operators on the proper assembly, maintenance and disassembly of Mechanical Clamp Connectors. Used to connect process piping these mechanical joints are exposed to high temperatures and pressures, making their proper assembly critical to their safe and reliable use. Working with Cenovus SMEs, Praxis prepared a script for the eLearning module using the existing procedure. Photo and video assets were collected by Cenovus, with Praxis conducting additional research in order to create a 3D model of Mechanical Clamp Connector.
The Result
Praxis combined a variety of illustrative assets including photos, video and 3D animations to produce a highly detailed eLearning module. The training addresses the procedure in a step-by-step fashion, ensuring that the assembly and disassembly of the Mechanical Clamps is methodically addressed and meticulously detailed through illustrations and animations. Praxis also recommended that the content be published using Articulate Storyline and AI generated Text-to-Speech (TTS) narration, in order to enable Cenovus to apply minor updates to the content internally should the procedure change in the future.
