Learning Management Systems
Teck approached Praxis to develop new process and operations training addressing a major renovation at the Trail, BC smelter.
The work involved developing training for a Teck project to modernize and install a new Kivcet furnace at their Trail British Columbia lead smelter. Praxis proposed using Computer-Based Training (CBT) in place of traditional training manuals and instructor led classroom training. At the time Computer-Based Training (CBT) was relatively new in the industry, but Praxis had developed its own eLearning authoring and publishing tools and had deployed eLearning to a number of other client sites. Praxis was selected as the winning vendor based on its CBT training platform, which combined CAD illustrations and graphics with narration.
Praxis worked closely with SMEs, engineers and vendors to determine the scope of the project and outline and write all the training. Praxis developed all graphics and illustrations, and published the CBTs. The new training covered all the new processes and equipment, and Praxis assisted in purchasing and deploying all the necessary computer hardware to facilitate the training. This project formed the basis of our relationship with Teck which eventually grew to include other Teck sites and operations.
Since that time, Praxis has developed numerous other eLearning modules for Teck, and deployed several contractor Learning Management Systems used to host and track Orientation training for contractors, visitors and other personnel not covered by the corporate LMS.
